The sights of Ooty

Usually people will go Ooty only for one day and 4 to 5 places they visit. This is happening because they are unaware about the places of Ooty.
Here will tell you the 28 places of Ooty.
First it starts from Gudallur and the next place like that we can go. So we can save the time and can be thorough with the route. In this we are telling some histories and sights,entry fee and time also.
Ooty or Udhagamandalam,is a city of nilagiri district,Tamilnadu. This is the capital of Nilagiri. This is one of the famous attractive place of the travellers. This place is known as the queen of hill stations. The official name was Udhagamandalam and the British had called as ‘Uttakkamandu’. The Ooty is the short form of this. The word Udhakamandalam has come from the ‘Othakal ‘ ‘mund ‘ word which is the thoda language. And it is known that the name has come from Patk – Mund. The Nilagiri hills are about 35 mile distance and 20 mile width and 6550 height. It is situated inbetween the east and west. The south part of the Niligiri is embedded with the Bhavani river and the north is Moyar river. It is joining to Bhavani river near to the dhannayan. One side is build with the Bhavani sagar dam. The Wayanad is situated in the West and border is made in Pykara at the East.
Best time :April to June and October to January.
1. Frog Hill.
It is situated 7.5 km away from the Gudallur in the Ooty route. The frog hill is very beautiful hill and it looks like frog when we see from far.The Thoppiyada hills and the surrounding tea plantations,small villages are giving the unforgettable memories. The Santhanamalai Murugan temple is the next attraction. It is with beautiful waterfalls inside the forest.

2.Needile Rock View Point.
From Gudulur there are 9 kms through Gudulur – Ooty National High way 67 to Needle Rock View Point. It is giving 360 degree vision and known as Osai Malai too. This name has given because of its cone shape. From Tamil usi means needle and malai means hill. The Ooty tourists must visit this place. Near the road itself counter is there for tourism. The snow hill filled in the hills and greeny will take us to a different world. Most of them will leave this place because they wanted to reach Ooty so soon. But it is a nice place to visit. It is a shooting range in Tamil films.
Ticket fee :5 per person.

3. Mukurti National Park.This is 20 kms away from the Needle rock point view. From here to Pykara waterfalls 13 kms are there. By seeing map can able to understand. This is situated in the west of the Niligiri. It is used for saving the Tahr. The places in this park is having climbs and it is about 4900 and 8625 feets. The main mountains are Kollaribetta,Mukurthi and Nilgiri. The Mukurthi Dam should not forget to see. This park will be a part of Nilgiri Biosphere in India. From 2012 July 1 UNESCO is a World Heritage Sight.

4.Glenmorgan.

From Needle rock view point there are 26 km. From Glenmorgan to pykara waterfalls there are 15 km. This is a wonderful village situated 35 kms away from Ooty. The main attraction of this place is the tea plantations and the hills. The next wonder is the rope way and it is not working nowadays.You can spend time in dam,power house,trekking and tea estate. The Moyar valley and Singara power house will give beautiful vision for the eyes.
