A trip to Kunthankulam the birds sanctuary in Tamilnadu

The Kunthankulam is a village situated in the Nanguneri Taluk of Tirunelveli district. This is the largest reserve for breeding water birds in South India and known as Water bird Sanctuary. We don’t think that we are going to this much decorative place. This place is declared as Water Bird Sanctuary in the year 1994.This is saved by the people of this village and the Kunthankukam village.

The big festival Depavali in the Tamilnadu is not celebrating in Kunthankulam why because the birds will fly away by hearing the sounds of crackers. The main attraction of this place is a big Watch tower. If you climb up can able to see the beautiful area of big pond with the trees in between. The birds would be there always, but the migrating birds will start to come in the month of December. The report says that there are 43 different types of water birds, which are foreign and natives are coming. Most of the birds are coming from the Siberia,Central Asia and North India. One children’s park and one interpretation centre is there. This is good location for the photographers and the bird supervisors. It is much better to take water with you because there are no houses and shops in that area
