I had called many friends to go paniyelipori which is coming under the city perumbavoor and under district Ernakulam.But by hearing the place name nobody got interested to visit.Because one week before Bhuthathankettu dam had opened without any notice and paniyelipori river’s water level has increased
friends were knowing that the place is an accidental area.i have tried to convince them by telling the example Athirappally.I asked them that 100 people are dying in athirappally but then also is people are visiting that place. After convincing also my friends didn’t accept to come there. But I am not like that one person to sit at home because of the fear. At last I decided to take my family along with me to paniyelipori without informing to anyone. Around 50 kms are there to travel from Ernakulam to paniyeliporu.i started to travel in bike with my wife and two kids.the route which we selected was Aluva-perumbavoor-vallam-kodanadu.one more route was there which I don’t know and we can reduce 5 kms.But I was not having interest to travel though that way y because it may take more time by asking with the others to know the exact way. So I thought it’s much better to choose the way what I know very well.The road was good and it helped us to reach the place easily.
The Kodanadu, is the place which is situated 10 kms away from Paniyeliporu. Kodanadu is a famous elephant santuary.And one zoo and park is there attached with this.New one Abhayaranyam zoo had made to keep the animals in a more comfortable place that is 2 kms away from Kodanadu.we have not gone there because we have already visited that place once.
Before reaching pore ticket counter is there. We have taken ticket that is 10 rps for one person and 5 rps for the bike. Again 300 meter we have to travel to reach the entrance. Ladies are checking the tickets and sending all the people inside. They are checking the bags also to find out any drinks items.whybecause the reason behind the each accident was due to alcoholism.
One question was keep on disturbing me that why to take my family also to there. I thought it as a stupid thing. But I became calm by seeing other families near to the parking area. So I got little more energy to travel.
Periyar river is the attractive place in Paniyeli. The name periyar has come due to the sound which is produced when it is stricking with the stones.the people are mainly coming here to see the periyar river and to play with the water. The footpath is through the forest to walk near the river and it is about 300 meter away form the entrance. The way where it is ending is having the chair which is made up of bamboo. After that it is full of forest. When we walk by seeing the periyar can able to see the waterfalls. Water was less because of the summer season. But I understood the strength while crossing the river. I was having fear even though the water was till the knee. We have to cross the river to reach near the waterfalls. First I stepped into the river after that I helped my wife and children also to cross the river. I have not seen anybody near to us so we started to cross the river.one person who is coming opposite to us form the forest area had told us about the bridge.then I replied that it’s nice to walk through the river and we can’t feel the same thing when we walk in the bridge. There were so many big and small ditches and it is causing for the death during rainy season. We can’t the person if they fell into that.even we don’t get the dead body.
It is not possible during summer time but there was a chance to slip on the stones.i was enjoying the walking by jumping form one rock to the another. Not only me but also my family was enjoying by walking through the forest. We have captured many pics by slowly walking. And I have noticed that no one is coming with the family to cross the river because of the danger. But I will not be satisfied without seeing the major waterfalls.At last we reached by walking in between the rocks.
The water was less but it was very nice to see how the water is falling on the rocks. We can enjoy the waterfalls during rainy season. The water was very cool .I made my wife and children to stand a side and I lie down in the water. The water had made my mind and body so cool.
We had brought food from house because here nice hotels wont be there. After having food we all started to bath. We have not seen any drunkers anywhere. It was good I felt.
I have spend more time with my family by playing in the water. I didn’t scold my children for drinking the water because it much good than the mineral water. While coming back we met one guard and he told about the adventurous truck.the team of 10 members will be trucking to the forest that is about 14 kms from paniyeliporu to bhuthathan Kettu dam. I said thanks to that person and walked.
The time was 5.30 so said bye to the poru.it was a happy journey through the forest.and we enjoyed the cool breeze and the song of the river a lot. I was thinking about my friendsby holding my wife’s and children’s hand.i want to say about the poru and to show the pics to them. And I want to come here one more time with my friends.
